Consistency Is Key
“You get out what you put into it.”
How many times have we heard this saying before, and how many times has it rang true? Think of a time when your hard work paid off and another time where your decreased effort gave very low results. At the end of the day, you’re going to get out exactly the amount of effort you put into something. The students who study hard will very likely get an A on an exam while the students who don’t study will most likely get a significantly lower grade on the exam. Big goals cannot be achieved with lowered or inconsistent efforts. If you put the high effort and hard work in, you’ll very likely find success. If your effort levels are low, then your results will be minimal. It’s simple: the level of effort put in reflects the level of the gained results.
It takes a minimum of 18 days to either develop or break a habit. This only has the potential to occur if those 18, or many more, days include consecutive and consistent effort towards the desired behavior. If you are highly inconsistent with your efforts towards your goals, you will only get results that match those patterns: inconsistencies in the desired result. It’s not that the things you’re doing are wrong; it’s just that sometimes they are worked on, and other times they are not. No good habit or true results can form through inconsistent effort; you become stuck in your current state of performance, which can turn into a repeated cycle if the inconsistencies continue. This is true both for your physical skills and your mental game. It takes much practice to gain a certain level of skill in each area, and the skills surely don’t just appear and are mastered overnight. Practicing only occasionally will give subpar results, while daily, purposeful practice will render well-earned results. The quality of your work and efforts towards what you want to achieve will either struggle or shine through. It truly depends upon your level of commitment which reflects the consistent effort that is put in, even through the difficulties that arise. It’s almost too simple to believe that you get out exactly what you put in, but the results speak for themselves. Staying connected and consistent with what you are working towards will one day bring you the results you are hoping for.
This is your reminder to be intentional with your thoughts and actions. Keep at it even on the hard days; your future self will thank you. Take some time to think about where you want to be, what it takes to get there, and what you can be doing every day to push yourself in that direction. Your consistent efforts will always pay off in the end. If you want to figure this out with me, please reach out and we will get to work!
